The Carpenters were an American sibling duo formed by Karen and Richard Carpenter. Emerging in the late 1960s, they defined a refined soft pop sound built on precise arrangements, layered harmonies, and Karen’s distinctive contralto voice.
Their breakthrough came with the album "Close to You", throughout the 1970s, they produced a series of commercially successful recordings, establishing a signature style marked by melodic clarity and studio precision. Richard Carpenter’s role as arranger and producer shaped the duo’s polished sound, while Karen’s vocal delivery combined technical control with emotional restraint. Their repertoire spans pop, easy listening, and soft rock.
The Carpenters remain one of the best-selling acts of the 20th century, with global record sales exceeding 100 million units. Their influence persists through continued airplay and reinterpretation, and Karen Carpenter’s voice is frequently cited among the most distinctive in popular music history. Richard recently has been officially nominated for the 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame, recognized in the prestigious performer-songwriter category - well deserved !

I NEED TO BE IN LOVE

FOR ALL WE KNOW

GOODBYE TO LOVE

HURTING EACH OTHER

I WON´T LAST THE DAY WITHOUT YOU

WE´VE ONLY JUST BEGUN

RAINY DAYS AND MONDAYS

SING A SONG
